rogue plastic

Innovating a solution for ocean plastic pollution

9 Days
1 Dec - 9 Dec 2017

After a successful voyage through the Palawan islands in February 2017, we will return to the Philippines ready to undertake an epic project, Rogue Plastic . This time, we shall be exploring the diverse and fascinating Negros region, from Bacolod city to Dumaguete. Calling Danjugan island our wilderness home for the VOPO Brainmelt series.

On this journey you will enter a realm vastly different from a typical holiday, in some of the most pristine, undeveloped places. Together with our fantastic partners, Danjugan Sanctuary and The Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation, inc., you will be lead through a cultural delight, surrounded by natural phenomena with the unique opportunity to use our Brainmelt systems-thinking approach and design framework to create tangible, positive change with a passionate team of global leaders.

The Pilipino Student Scholarships are now closed!

It is our mission to curate extraordinary expeditions that enhance Earth and self.

is this for me?

VOPO Expeditions invite participants from all walks of life. Whether you bring multiple qualifications, practical experience or enthusiasm, we extend this experience to everyone.

One critical factor is openness. Danjugan is a self-sustaining nature sanctuary. Reliant on solar energy and limited rainwater sources. Together, we will embrace the simplistic beauty of life. You won't get high-speed internet, but you will access a new world of connection and insight.

Agenda

Sustainability

As air travel is a huge contributor to environmental degradation, our team are currently focused on calculating our carbon footprint. For which, we have created Trading Carbon, an initiative that in allows us to neutralise the GHG emissions from all travel. We also respect our role as guests in each host country, knowing that long-term strong partnerships are imperative to sustainable outcomes and allow us to be responsive to the genuine goals of the region. VOPO also devote a portion of Expedition places to local scholarship participants, a measure that maximises accessibility. This is also key to our mission, exploring unintended consequences and addressing systems rather than symptoms. Additionally, we stay at locations that are off the grid, investing in local employment, with a commitment towards conservation and in harmony with nature.

See our Sustainability Policy.
